Ground covering plants generally do not want to be stepped upon, but for lighter traffic we have some suggestions. Dymondia, Creeping Thymes, Chamomile and Laurentia are good choices.

Hemerocallis hybrids
One of our most versatile perennials is the Daylily. Although an individual flower lasts only one day, the buds on each raceme open in succession for many weeks during summer. The flower buds are edible to humans, but deer don’t seem to eat them…go figure.

Lavandula species
Lavenders are the perfect companion for sages, thymes or rock roses, these aromatic shrubs are best known for their aromatic foliage and drought tolerance. All from Mediterranean origin, they require good drainage, and are typically short lived…5 to 7 years. Worth replanting!
